Greetings!
This summer EBLS had a new test: the refined palate and travel expertise of consumer travel writer Wendy Perrin. Perrin, who is Condé Nast Traveler's consumer news editor and an award-winning columnist (The Perrin Report) and blogger (The Perrin Post), has been singled out for years by critics for her ability to find great deals and fantastic getaways.
So how did East Brother Light Station do?
2 cups of wheat semolina (couscous)
Lately we've been getting more and more comments about the croissants we serve on the island. As one guest wrote in an online review, "The croissant rolls were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside that we felt the innkeepers had been up very early in the morning to achieve such a perfect roll."
The real credit belongs to Galaxy Desserts of Richmond and its co-founders Jean-Yves Charon and Paul Levitan.
Every year businesses around San Francisco Bay compete in their industries for the coveted Best of the Bay title. For those of you who have visited East Brother Light Station in the past two years, you might just recognize the name of this year's winner for Best Coffee Shop.
Congratulations, Timber, you've made it! We love your Catahoula Coffee, and we proudly serve it to our guests.
Haven't tried the Bay Area's best coffee yet? You can enjoy Catahoula Coffee at your next visit to East Brother Light Station, as well as at the Catahoula Coffee Company in Richmond at 12472 San Pablo Avenue.
And for those of you who get hooked on the best coffee in the Bay while visiting the island, we always have some fresh roasted coffee beans for you to purchase in our gift shop.
