Summer is almost here and since the seasons fly by so fast for us this year, we would like to share with you what some of our frequent guests say about the various seasons on the island.  On the day of one of the sailing races, one of our volunteers came to the island with some friends.  Please read how she describes her experience of what we call "Race Day".

blog-perrinThis summer EBLS had a new test:  the refined palate and travel expertise of consumer travel writer Wendy Perrin.  Perrin, who is Condé Nast Traveler's consumer news editor and an award-winning columnist (The Perrin Report) and blogger (The Perrin Post), has been singled out for years by critics for her ability to find great deals and fantastic getaways.

So how did East Brother Light Station do?

Our recipe for this issue is felicia roulades with oriental taboule.
Oriental Taboule:

2 cups of wheat semolina (couscous)blog-taboule

2 cups of water
1 teaspoon of salt
pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of raspberry vinegar
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 red pepper
1 orange pepper
1 green pepper
1 cucumber
2 garlic cloves
1 or 2 shallots
half a bouquet of mint (minced)
The juice of 2 lemons

Lately we've been getting more and more comments about the East Brother Light Station mini croissantscroissants we serve on the island.  As one guest wrote in an online review, "The croissant rolls were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside that we felt the innkeepers had been up very early in the morning to achieve such a perfect roll."

The real credit belongs to Galaxy Desserts of Richmond and its co-founders Jean-Yves Charon and Paul Levitan.

Critical Work Continues!

Much work is left to be done, including replacing and upgrading service equipment at both the land side and island side of the cable termination, all of which is in progress.
