Lately we've been getting more and more comments about the
croissants we serve on the island. As one guest wrote in an online review, "The croissant rolls were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside that we felt the innkeepers had been up very early in the morning to achieve such a perfect roll."
The real credit belongs to Galaxy Desserts of Richmond and its co-founders Jean-Yves Charon and Paul Levitan.
Formed in 1998 in an auspicious union of two highly-successful specialty bakeries, Galaxy Desserts immediately attracted international attention and awards. Master Pastry Chef Jean-Yves draws on several influences, including traditions of creating true French pastries with freshness and innovation of modern California cuisine. Their signature croissants (the ones we serve on the island) were "Oprah's Favorite Things" in 2002, as well as "Oprah's All-Time Classic Favorite Things" in 2005.
You can enjoy these heavenly croissants any time you visit the island, or pick them up at your local Trader Joe's.

“You can sit and watch big ships and little seals cruise by, or gaze at the reposing birds or the rushing tide below the dock. There’s a sense of intimacy here and a feeling of remoteness, even though it’s just a short distance to the mainland.”
- Doug McConnell, Bay Area Backroads
